Assess and decide…
Make sure you have a clear picture of the situation, follow the standard door procedure and decide, based upon the given criteria, to deploy the DSPA-5.

Activation of the DSPA-5
Pull the pin out and throw the DSPA-5 directly inside. The DSPA-5 doesn’t have to be deployed into the seat of the fire. You don’t have to enter the room.

Aerosol
The extinguishing substance of DSPA is aerosol. Aerosol acts similar to gas, so it will expand volumetrically and reach even the most difficult places.

Close off the compartment
Close off the fire room, so the aerosol is contained. If the room is properly closed, the aerosol will be more effective.

Effect and further steps
After 30 to 60 seconds the fire is knocked down. The flames are gone and the fire no longer spreads. There is more time for evacuation. Fire fighters have more time to reach the scene. Upon arrival, notify the fire fighters as quickly as possible. With only a limited amount of water, they will finish the job.
