When would I use a DSPA-5

Answer

Fire Scenario A:
A first Intervention team of Fire Fighters arrives at the scene an early stage fire. After assisting in getting people out and before additional resources arrive at the scene, they toss one or two DSPA’s into the compartment . This way will buy time for further rescue and for the Firefighters to lay down their hoses.

Fire Scenario B:
Firefighters are concerned about potential flashover from a fire down a hall and water isn’t yet available. Toss a DSPA-5 ahead of the Firefighters to eliminate many of the contributing factors of a possible flashover or backdraft.

Fire Scenario C:
Firefighters are concerned about potential flashover from a fire down inside a compartment such as an attic / loft or a cellar. Due to the very high temperatures and enormous flame front, it’s impossible to close up to the fire. Toss a DSPA-5 ahead of the Firefighters to eliminate many of the contributing factors of a possible flashover or backdraft and within seconds the temperature will drop to lower temperatures in which Firefighters can do their jobs as well as giving a double protection to prevent a flashover or backdraft. Normally a flashover will occur around 600°C - 800°C, after using DSPA-5 the temperature will drop until about 150°C - 120°C.

Fire Scenario D:
A Firefighter is trapped or can’t get to a victim due to an intense area of fire. Toss a DSPA-5 near to the flame area for immediate suppression.
